WHICH IS MORE IMPORTANT FOR MARKETING, A WEBSITE OR SOCIAL NETWORKING?

I’m going to answer that question today. The answer is you need both, among other things to properly market your business/product/services. But which should you invest your time and money into first?

First, you need a website. Why you may ask. Well, people are not looking for your contact information in the Yellow Pages book any longer. They are on their Smart Phones looking up the information on the internet or on their work or home computer. That is the FIRST place people are checking, the internet. And when doing a search for you or your type of business/service/product, you want your information clearly out there and easy to find. You want the person searching to find your contact information with little effort.

Second, a website validates your business/product/services. You want to be taken seriously, right? Well, in order to be taken seriously, you need to have a web presence of your own.
Third, a Facebook page has limitations on what you can do. Your website really has none. That is where you will really shine and stand out from the rest. How many millions are on facebook? Many! How many of those Facebook pages are unique? The content can be unique, but there are limitations on sizes of photos and videos, as well as many things that can not be added to your facebook page. With your own website there are no limitations, none. I think we can all agree that uniqueness is a major asset when doing business. But, millions of people are on facebook, and that is why you need to be on facebook as well!

Fourth and finally, social networking and websites should work together. Use the networks to promote your website and use your website to let your customers and potential customers know the different networks you’re a part of. The more interesting you make the content on both, the more people will want to engage with you in businesses or contact you for your expertise. You may not know it, but every tweet, blog or status update, as well as updates on your website the better for your search engine ranking. The more content you have online, the more the search engines are going to find you, the more “popular” you are online, the higher your ranking on search engines.
